EL and Papa often share Papa's pillow. Don't they look cozy?!

The beginning of the end or the end of the beginning

EL took his first steps on video today. He's been ready to for awhile now, but like a butterfly getting used to its new wings, didn't have the energy to keep going while we hunted for the camera. Today we couldn't have stopped him if we wanted to!

Covered with Sand

EL and Mama went to a park with our neighbor friends. EL was watching a friend going on a swing and also playing in a sand box. He was covered with sand, but had a great time.

So Close to Walking!

When EL goes to a park, he pushes his stroller and walks around. He really likes that. :)

The way he took several steps today was very close to the actual walking. He did that a few times today. Mama thinks he will be start walking on his own very soon.

Busy Working

EL likes playing not only with his toys, but also with everything else. Lately, he especially likes pulling all the clean towels out of drawers, pulling off Papa and Mama's sheets from the bed and his blankets off his crib.

Eating Like an Adult

EL has been eating more like Papa and Mama's food. French toast, hamburger, vegetable sticks, miso soup...etc.

He is starting to know what he likes and what he doesn't as well. If he doesn't want to eat something, he pushes the spoon or Papa/Mama's hand away. But Papa and Mama never give up either. Overall, he eats most of the stuff we give him.

He is also starting to use his spoon and mug pretty well. If we hand him food on his spoon, he can carry it to his mouth and eat. As for a mug, he needs help lifting it up enough to drink, but he can hold it very well.

Getting Better

Mama found out a great way to brush EL's teeth. She shows him how to brush teeth first. Then, she puts him down on her legs and let him brush Mama's teeth (it's more like let him try to pull the tooth brush out of her mouth). As soon as he goes for Mama's tooth brush, she brushes his teeth. It actually works, and he has been such a good boy while brushing teeth!

The photos here are when he really disliked brushing teeth...

Look at My Teeth!

EL has two more teeth coming out on the bottom. He now has eight teeth! He has so many teeth, but does not like to brush his teeth... :(

Let's Go to a Park

EL and Mama have been going to a park everyday for the last four days since the weather has been nice and warm. If EL is in a good mood, he stands up by himself, looks around, and touches stuff around him. Mama enjoys watching him play outside. He walks a little bit holding Mama's hands, but he prefers to be held.

Eating

EL has been practicing eating with his hands and spoon. He is now pretty good at eating bread and some vegetable sticks with his hands. When Mama puts some food on his spoon (that wouldn't easily fall from it), he can also bring the spoon to his mouth. However, he keeps chewing on it even after the food is gone. He also does not want to let go of the spoon, so it's hard to continue feeding him. :P Mama is now trying to use two spoons to feed him. One for him to hold onto and the other to actually feed him.

This morning, EL ate Papa's breakfast! We placed Papa's sandwiches on a table. Mama was pulling out EL's clothes and Papa was getting dressed. EL was being quite, so Mama looked to see what he was up to. There he was siting on the floor eating Papa's bread. Since he is learning to eat bread on his own, he probably thought that it was for him! :D

EL is starting to eat more like Papa and Mama's food. He sometimes has the same meal (with less seasoning) as Papa and Mama. The other day, he had onigiri (rice balls).

"Give Me Some Coffee"

Last weekend, while Papa was having coffee, EL wanted some, too. :)

11 Months Old

EL turned 11 months old yesterday. He is STILL growing up fast. :) Now he can take a few steps on his own. He is getting closer and closer to walking.
