Baby Class

These are photos from the baby class we attended on January 27, 2007.

Here is Papa trying to bath a baby. This baby doll he is using here weighs about the same as a new born baby. We were actually surprised how heavy the doll was.


Here is Papa again trying to see what it feels like to be pregnant. With a fake big tummy, Papa tried going up/down the stairs, lying down, picking up a pen, etc. It's not so easy being a mama, is it!?

Time to think about the baby name!

Finally! We found out that it's a baby boy! For the past several months, the baby was too shy to let us know its gender. Today, the doctor confirmed that it is a boy. :) The photo here is his face (28 weeks & 6 days). It might be hard to see, but the focus is on his right eye (on your left when you see the picture). His closed right hand is by his face (on the left hand top) and it is right next to his eye. He has his eyes shut in this picture. The doctor said his nose looks like a koala nose here since the ultrasound is not a 3-D one. He was moving his hand, month, and I could also see him blinking. Just to let you know, he looked a lot cuter in the actual ultrasound monitor than this picture!

Here is the "big tummy" mom. This picture was taken on the mid 28th week. The regular pajama pants do not fit anymore, so finally decided to switch to the maternity pajama pants. A lot of people comment that the tummy looks small for having 8-month baby, but the doctor says the size of the baby is normal. He weighs about 2.7 lbs.

Happy New Year!

On New Years Day, a lot of Japanese people go to shrines/temples to pray for a good year (regardless of their religion). Since it's one of the traditional ways of celebrating New Years Day, you have to wait in line for hours to get up to where you throw some coins to pray. We went to a shrine near our house in the afternoon of January 1st, and ONLY waited about an hour. Lucky us! :) There are a few temporary shops which sell food and drinks like yakisoba, takoyaki, sake, etc.
